Dear Babylon Families,
Welcome to the Health Page of the Babylon Union Free School District. Our Registered Professional Nurses are part of a specialized practice of public health nursing in which we assist students by integrating health care and education. The Babylon UFSD Nursing Team works collaboratively with students, their families and staff to help each child in striving toward an optimal state of ealth. A healthy student can concentrate and learn more effectively, thereby making health the foundation upon which education is built. We aspire to maintain the health and safety for all our students daily.
Our Registered Professional Nurses assist in managing asthma, diabetes, epilepsy and life-threatening allergies. We navigate safety issues from basic first aid to AED (automated external defibrillator) management. We assist students with illness, playground and sports injuries as well as students recovering from surgery. All these factors can impact a student’s readiness to learn, and we help mitigate these factors so that each child can have an optimal educational experience.
The Registered Professional Nurses maintain a record of each child’s immunizations and physicals. We provide health screenings for vision, hearing and scoliosis in accordance with NYS Regulations. We respectfully ask for all medical documentation to be submitted to the Health Office in your child’s school in order to reflect an updated, accurate medical record for your child.
Most importantly, we view your child as a whole and aspire to treat each child’s physical, social and emotional health with the utmost care. Should your child or family have any issues that we can assist with, please feel free to reach out to us.
Respectfully,
Grace McHugh, R.N.
