About the Smart Schools Bond Act:

The Smart Schools Bond Act was passed as part of the 2014–15 New York State budget and approved by voters in a statewide referendum in November 2014. The Act authorized $2 billion in bonds to fund educational technology and infrastructure in schools across New York State. Before any funds are released, a district's Smart Schools Investment Plan must be approved by the Smart Schools Review Board.

Each plan is approved by the local Board of Education and submitted to the State Education Department. Plans must address:

• ✓ Professional development
• ✓ Technical support
• ✓ Sustainability
