As required by the Commissioner’s Regulation 100.11 each of our schools has formed a Site Based Management Team also known as "Shared Decision Making". As stated in the regulations, “The purpose of school-based planning and shared decision making shall be to improve the educational performance of all students in the school, regardless of such factors as socioeconomic status, race, sex, language background, or disability.”
The Babylon Union Free School District is firmly committed to implementing, supporting, and evaluating a school educational plan for Shared Decision Making which will generate a spirit of collaboration and promote the achievement of excellence in all phases of school life for each member of the school community.
Each of our school teams is represented by board members, administrators, teachers, non-teaching staff, parents, community members, and on the Junior / Senior High School team, students. Teams meet approximately once a month and maintain agendas and minutes. The following categories have been established as areas of discussion for the Site Based Teams: Curriculum, Educational Accountability, Behavioral Management, Facilities, Fiscal Considerations and Communication. The scope of such discussions should be focused on the improved educational performance of our students.
