Dear Parents/Guardians of Incoming Kindergarten Students,

Welcome to Babylon Elementary School! We are looking forward to having you become part of our school community. The information below is for parents and guardians of incoming kindergarten students.

Registration of kindergarten students will take place by appointment only at Babylon Elementary School on:

Wednesday, March 20th from 9:00-11:00 a.m., 1:00-2:30 p.m., & 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Tuesday, March 26th from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Registration Paperwork:

Prior to attending a registration session, please complete and prepare the paperwork in the registration packet that can also be found on the district website. It is required that you provide:

Evidence of your child's birth date
Certificate of immunization
Proof of residency
Proof of guardianship

Enclosed in the registration packet is a Registration Checklist that provides additional details and guidance as you prepare your family's paperwork. Once completed, you may contact the school to schedule your appointment.

At Registration:

Please bring all completed forms and required information to Babylon Elementary School during your registration appointment. We will make copies of any original documentation.

As part of the registration process, parents/guardians will be invited to schedule their children for a kindergarten screening appointment. Each screening session occurs with students working in a one-to-one setting with a school staff member, independent of their parents. The screening process affords the school staff the opportunity to get to know each child and gauge his/her readiness for kindergarten. The process takes approximately 30-45 minutes and will be held at Babylon Elementary School from May 20-May 23. Prior to the screening time, there will also be a 40-minute orientation for students and their parents. A staff member will offer guided tours through the halls of our building to familiarize the students with the different locations and people that they will work with in September. Please allow approximately 1.5 hours on this screening/orientation day.

Detailed information about our kindergarten program will also be shared during our Kindergarten Orientation for Parents on Thursday, April 18th at 6:30 p.m. in the Elementary School Gymnasium.
